TEHRAN (FNA)- Iran's Police Chief Brigadier General Esmayeel Ahmadi Moqaddam on Monday assured the Iranian nation of the police and security forces' ability to safeguard security during the upcoming parliamentary elections in the country

"Given the security status of the country, a good election with maximum public turnout is expected to be waiting for us," Ahmadi Moqaddam told FNA in Iran's Southeastern city of Zahedan, the provincial capital city of Sistan and Balouchestan.

He stated that all Iran's security apparatus are fully prepared for glorious elections, and added, "The vigilance of the security bodies is needed for all times, while an increase in security at this specific time is our duty."

The ninth parliamentary elections are scheduled for March, 2, 2012.

Last week, Supreme Leader of Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei said lively turnout of the people in the upcoming election will strike another blow to the enemy.

"…the people's presence in the upcoming parliamentary elections which is a manifestation and an instance of people's partnership in (deciding) the country's fate will be synonymous with an enthusiastic and enemy-defeating presence," Ayatollah Khamenei said, addressing a large number of people in Tehran.

"All (Iranian) officials and candidates are also tasked with providing the ground for holding healthy and competitive elections through their full commitment to the law," he added.

Ayatollah Khamenei also warned about enemies' plots to prevent the massive turnout of the Iranian people in the parliamentary elections, but meantime expressed confidence about the fruitlessness of enemies' plots due to the nation's vigilance and wisdom.
Many Iranian officials have warned in recent months that enemies of the country are striving hard to decrease people's turnout in the upcoming parliamentary polls through various means and plots.

Yet, Iranian officials have assured that enemies' plots will remain futile thanks to the vigilance of the Iranian nation.
